چکیده

Introduction Exposures to low grade oxidative stress has become a common phenomenon, in these days of increasing environmental stress. Therefore, it becomes extremely relevant to investigate the factors determining the anti-apoptotic influence of repetitive stress and to document whether repetitive or chronic use of naturally occurring compounds influence the antiapoptotic outcome of repetitive stress[1,2].

Epigallocatechin-3-Gallate Induces Apoptosis through Up-regulation of Bax and Down-regulation of Bcl-2 in Prostate Cancer Cell Line

Background and Aims: Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is a polyphenolic compound from green tea, which its anticancer effects on many types of cancers have been confirmed, but the molecular mechanism by which EGCG induces apoptosis remains unknown. The aim of the present study was to investigate anti-proliferative properties and apoptotic signaling pathway of EGCG on PC3 human prostate cancer ...

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate, a natural polyphenol, inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in human ovarian cancer cells.

BACKGROUND Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is a polyphenol constituent present in green tea previously shown to inhibit cancer growth. However, studies on human ovarian cancer are limited. This study evaluated, the effects of EGCG as a potential anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic agent in the human ovarian cancer line, SKOV-3. MATERIALS AND METHODS The MTS assay which measures metabolic a...

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) for Clinical Trials: More Pitfalls than Promises?

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), the main and most significant polyphenol in green tea, has shown numerous health promoting effects acting through different pathways, as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic agent, showing gene expression activity, functioning through growth factor-mediated pathways, the mitogen-activated protein kinase-dependent pathway, the ubiquitin/proteasom...

Green Tea Polyphenol Epigallocatechin-3-Gallate Attenuates Behavioral Abnormality in Hemi-Parkinsonian Rat

Background: Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a major constituent of green tea, has been introduced as a potent free radical scavenger and can effectively reduce free radical-induced lipid peroxidation. Since free radical injury plays an important role in neuronal damage in Parkinson’s disease (PD), this study examined whether EGCG administration would reduce functional asymmetry in an experimen...

Theaflavin-3, 3'-digallate decreases human ovarian carcinoma OVCAR-3 cell-induced angiogenesis via Akt and Notch-1 pathways, not via MAPK pathways.

Theaflavin-3, 3'-digallate (TF3) is a black tea polyphenol produced from polymerization and oxidization of the green tea ployphenols epicatechin gallate and (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) during fermentation of fresh tea leaves. TF3 has been reported to have anticancer properties. However, the effect of TF3 on tumor angiogenesis and the underlying mechanisms are not clear. In the present...
